Not exactly the words that come to mind when you first arrive in Missoula, Montana. But the aloha spirit is alive and well here, thanks to a nice little bit of river engineering known as Brennan’s Wave. Kaykers and surfers take turns on the standing wave, with rides sometimes lasting a minute or more. An observation deck above the feature makes it easy to hang out and watch the goings on, and the light this particular evening made it easy to hang out and shoot—all the while wishing I had a wetsuit and board with me.
Next time for sure.
